Worthy Buget Tennis Stringer - Time Consuming
Date: August 30, 2009
I bought this machine because I do play tennis 2-4 times a week. Every time I pop a racquet, it cost around 12-15 dollars. For a machine that cost around 170 shipped, was a no brainer for me. Though I did my research on what buget machine that I would buy and I came to a conclusion that the Gamma X-2 came up on top. The machine seems very durable and great quality. It does its job pretty well once you get the hang of stringing.
The negative part I would say about my experience is the time it takes to string a racquet is quite long. Another is that the clamps are very rough on your hands.
Overall, its a great buget machine. If you don't mind the tension to be slightly off, this machine will do you just fine. Since this is a buget machine, stringing a raquet takes some strenght due to the clamps.

The rachet function is really helpful and the stringer is very stable. The flying clamps are hard on your fingers and hand but otherwise great buy for the money.

All you need to start stringing
Date: October 3, 2007
The Gamma X-2 is a solid machine with all the tools you need. It comes with complimentary strings from Gamma (about 6). I recommend you get some online info about stringing the racquet online. The manual shows how to operate the machine and only touches the actual details of stringing the racquet. Golfsmith shipping charge will save you money. I already checked e-bay. You will get killed on shipping $.

Great value
Date: July 4, 2007
I am new to stringing and have had this about a week now. It came with the necessary tools, and a basic instruction manual. The manual was sufficient, especially when you have a previously strung racquet to look at when learning. It is obviously not the fastest of machines, but it is the cheapest available.
--------------
The 2-point clamps held my Dunlop 300G OS very stably. I was able to string my first racquet in about 1.5 hours. My second racquet I strung with a hybrid set and completed it in about 1 hour. With a little more practice, 45 minutes should be doable, but don't expect anything much quicker than that.
The drop-weight tensioning mechanism seems to work fine, and only serves to slow things down a bit.
--------------
It comes with all necessary tool, but the needlenose pliers are small and uncomfortable in the hand and do not trip the string easily. My advise would be to buy a good pair of wire clippers and a more ergonomic pair of pliers. The floating clamps worked fine, especially once you get a few mains strung.
--------------
Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.
