This tool was so easy to use, I could'nt believe it. It made my V grooves even better than when they were new. Now when I hit shots to the green...the ball stops on a dime, or even backs up if you want it to. Worth every penny, and more. Thank you Golfsmith, you saved me from buying a new set of irons.

Nice handle, very sharp cutting edge. On clubs used for 104 rounds, many required only a single pass to sharpen grooves. Grooves damaged by stones needed only a double pass.

A great little tool

This regrooving tool really does help clean and regroove the scorelines on irons, adding more spin and stopping power to wedges when you use the "U" cutting head. It will also change the "V" cuts to "U" cuts in two or three swipes. I absolutely love this tool. It's really helped my Lob, Gap, Sand and Pitching wedges put the ball on the green and stop it there. I highly recommend this tool as a alternatively cheap way to fix up those old irons.

I secured club head in a vise and began running the tool thur the grooves. After several passes there was a very noticeable sharper edge. I may have gone overboard because it now makes marks on the ball, so I know it made a difference.

Works, but not easy to use - easy to scratch the face of your irons. Why not incorporate a cutter design that covers 3 grooves, not just one. This will help with stability during regrooving.

Does a remarkable job. I'v been requested to regrove several sets and the owners are very happy with the work that was done. The groves are sharp and the tool is extremely easy to use. Don't know how I got along without it.

Awesome buy - especially for the price
Date: July 29, 2009
I recently purchased this regrooving tool for my worn out wedges. I could not bring myself to buy new ones and I had just regripped mine so I figured I'd give this tool a try. It definitely exceeded my expectations. My sand wedge had bite again after just fifteen minutes with the groove tool. I cut U grooves into the wedge from the original V grooves and you definitely notice a difference. I also just used the V groover to regroove my pitching wedge and eventually I'll get to my other irons. My only complaint is that right after using this tool the grooves are rough and it will scuff a soft ball (ProV1, Tour IX, etc) very easily. I suggest hitting plenty of range balls or sanding it a bit. I love this tool though - definitely worth it!

Works well. It, like other groove tools, leave some burring. A couple of light passes over the grooves with the flat end of a file will solve the burring issue.
Lay the clubhead flat so the face is horizontal, grooves facing up. hold the file so the end forms a V shape and lightly polish the newly sharpened grooves. This will eliminate any scarring of the golf ball.

I was skepticle, then impressed
Date: July 4, 2009
I had a totally trashed set of Cleveland 588 Wedges. I was about to buy new ones when I decided to take a chance on this tool. Mostly because I had them bent upright with oversize grips. Anyway, it took me longer than expected to get my totally flattened sand wedge back to normal. I'd say about an hour. I did three wedges in about two hours. I should be more accurate and say better than normal. The next time I played they really stopped the ball. It allowed me to really hit down on the ball and spin it. You can run your fingers over the face and tell. It's probably not legal because I made them nice and deep and the edges stand up a bit. It tore the cover off my Pro V1x balls. I went through 3 in 18 holes. But it made hitting my wedges fun again.
Cons: It needs a six sided handle that lines up with each blade or make all six blades U grooves. It would be easier to use if my thumb was on top of the handle (that's not always the case.) You should probably tape up the face of the club as you'll end up putting scratch marks on the heel and toe areas if you're not super careful.
Pros: Quality, Durability, replaceable blades

I used this to regroove my 24 year old set of Ping Eye 2's. I was thinking of buying new irons because the Pings couldn't hold the greens very well. After regrooving I'm very happy with the results.

I knew that my clubs were not giving me the action on the greens as they use to, but after dressing the clubs grooves up with this tool, well lets just say they are like new again. Sure wish that I had bought this tool years ago, now I dress my clubs once a month, just to keep them performing the way I like.
Great tool, everyone should have one in there bag.

After sharpening mizuno mp-r 56, 52, and mp30 PW I can rip the cover off of a soft ball - literally. I had shavings of ball material stuck on my 56 when pitching from 35 yards. In order to get this to work you NEED to clamp it in a bench vise. It takes around 15 minutes to complete each iron. If you do not clamp it down you will slip and scratch up your irons. I suggest using an old worn out club first to get the technique down. Also go to the driving range to wear a little bit of the groove off before playing your pro V1's or softer ball because it will slice and rip them if you hit them right after sharpening. This is exactly what I was looking for - something to make my wedges BEASTLY!

Not as easy as it may seem
Date: June 22, 2009
Does it do what it claims? Yes, it can sharpen your grooves. But, it is not easy to use. One review said that he had good results by clamping his clubhead in a bench vise, I would say this is a necessity. I have some forged Mizuno blades whose grooves are in need of some serious sharpening. I gave up on using the sharpening tool after spending over an hour on my 9-iron, and only getting the two bottom grooves sharpened. I think it would work a lot better if I had some sort of clamp, or vise, that I could use to stabilize the clubhead. On the more positive side, it does a great job at removing hardened dirt and other groove debris without a clamp.

This tool is hard to use. I have Titleist 981dci's from 1999. They've never been regrooved. You have to lock your iron in a vise at the right angle to ease the process. My irons are stainless steel with v grooves, so it took alot of passes with this tool to cut u grooves. But it was well worth it. My approach shots don't spin backwords, but they noticeably stop much quicker now. Plus the ball flight with my longer irons are much more consistent. I definately will use this tool to keep my grooves clean on my current and future irons from now on.

all i have to say is that if you need to buy new set of wedges cause they are worn out, then dont. insted get this tool and let it work its magic on that club. its easy to use and the results will surprise you. it takes 10-15 mins for 1 club to get done but its well worth it.

Very sharp grooves
Date: May 8, 2009
My gap and sand wedges have seen lots of use from practice and play, and I was planning on replacing them. Saw the Groove tool, and gave it a try. I had to clamp the clubhead into a smooth-faced machinist's vise to hold it securely, then clamped that vise into my large bench vice to hold it steady. I used the square point of the cutter to convert my v-grooves to box grooves. I pushed the tool along the groove on the first pass, then pulled it back on the return pass, and repeated until the bottom of the groove was flat. Forged clubs, so fairly easy to re-cut the grooves. Stainless clubs might be more difficult. Groove edges are sharp, put some good spin on the ball for those difficult short-side chips. I regrooved 3 wedges in about 20 minutes, once I had a way to secure the clubhead. Would be difficult to use effectively without a secure way of holding the club.
