It would have probably worked better with a vice, but I was still able to use it by just clamping it to a surface.

I wasn't impressed
Date: October 18, 2008
I wasn't that impressed with this product. It was difficult to open, difficult to put on and I actually had better luck with a towell in the vise. I did purchase one before that was softer, and more flexible but this one was junk. Better than nothing if you cannot comprimise.
Pros: Good Value
Cons: Quality, Poor Design

Handy to have
Date: September 17, 2008
I've regripped plenty of clubs without using a vise but decided to try this. Glad i have it. Pretty easy to go on and off, and holds the club in a regular bench vise with no damage to shaft. I dont know how long it will hold up, but I've done three sets and no signs of breaking down.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Value

Use the right tool for the job.
Date: April 20, 2008
First time I re-gripped my clubs I paid a pro shop. This year I first experimented on an old club using a towel in a vise to protect the shaft. For my actual sticks I wanted the right tool for the job. I considered the more expensive, specialized clamps. Decided to try this first and it works just fine. IMO you don't need a specialized clamps unless you're doing volume like a pro shop.

Poor Performance

The rubber vise clamp is not properly designed to best hold the golf club. The flexibility of the tool is also poor. Spend the ectra to buy a better product and you will save time and effort.

Great product–just use it for tips only.
Date: November 8, 2007
I use this product on just about all of my club assembly tasks, even gripping. It's only designed to hold the shaft near the tip end, so keep that in mind when considering uses for it. I have the metal clamp as well, but use this item much more often, because the rubber is soft and I don't have to worry if I have it perfectly positioned before clamping the vise on it. This makes it a lot quicker to use when epoxying a lot of clubs at once.
