GOLFSMITH Complete G40 Iron with Steel

Golfsmith G40 Iron Heads To celebrate Golfsmith's 40th anniversary, we are proud to introduce our G40 line. Targeting middle-to-lower handicap players who appreciate clean looks with game improvement, G40 irons are precision cast from soft, 8620 carbon steel - the same material used to manufacture the two most popular wedges on Tour. After casting, scorelines are CNC milled for accuracy and the heads are nickel-chrome-plated with the same process used for forged irons offering durability with a rich appearance. G40 irons concentrate mass in three areas: the heel, toe and center. The center mass creates a solid feel and allows better workability than oversize cavity back irons. The heel and toe mass add perimeter weighting and provide added forgiveness. Variable thickness of the heels and toes remove extra weight, while stabilization bars provide additional strength. The irons set up clean with a player's profile shape, thin top line and minimal offset. The soles have medium widths with

I agree with everything the first two reviewers mentioned about the G-40 irons. Until a few months back, I played with the Golfsmith Pro Cavity Forged irons and really loved that set. I made the switch to the G-40's because I desired aesthetically a more "blade-like" design. As a eight-handicapper, the G-40 is the perfect set for someone who desires the performance of a blade with the forgiveness of a cavity back. I built up the set with Royal Precision 5.5 shafts and Lamkin Crossline grips and I must say they look beautiful. Highly recommended and think I will build a back up set just in case something happens to the first.
Strengths
Classic aesthetics
High playability
Numerous build options
Forgiveness when you need it
Weaknesses
Face marks fairly quickly

Although I am only 16 and this is my second set of clubs, I was able to make the adjustment from a standard cavity back iron set to these g40 irons quickly. Purchasing or making this set of irons will really help an help an average golfer develop into a better golfer with out a doubt. If u have never hit bladed clubs it might take a little while to get used to having a significantly smaller "sweet spot" but once you find it man does the ball zip off the face of these amazing irons! I have demoed many different forged and caste irons and so fare I have not found another iron I am more comfortable hitting, whether it be a 160 yard 8 iron or a 200 yard 4 iron these clubs will help u find the green! Overall this set of irons is an affordable and more importantly a reliable set!

Awesome irons!! Definitely have the esthetics and playability of a $1000+ set of clubs. Very solid/feedback and somewhat forgiving for a player's club. Definitely recommend for those who wish to progress to the next level of GOLF!!!
