CLEVELAND CG12 DSG RTG+ Wedge

Cleveland Golf CG12 DSG RTG+ Wedge The Cleveland CG12 SDG RTG+ Wedge combines classic design with advanced manufacturing processes to offer a scoring club that's as easy to hit as it is on the eyes. Features: ZIP Grooves: Breakthrough milling technology creates 25% bigger grooves with pristine edges for increased "ZIP" and shot consistency, especially from poor lies Dynamic Sole Grind: Two sole surfaces increase versatility - square faced and full shots will play like a standard bounce wedge, open faced shots play like a low bounce wedge (easily hitting high and soft touch shots) RTG+ Finish: Oil finish slowly wears over time causing mild surface rust for enhanced texture and glare reduction

Love these wedges!!
Date: November 2, 2009
At first I was a little frustrated that I could only get a 10 degree bounce. Figured Mr. Cleveland knew best and I wasn't dissapointed. First time out with my 52 degree, 93 yards out from the middle of the fairway, pin in the front, landed two consecutive shots within three feet of the pin only to have them violently spin back and off the green. It'll take some getting used to but these really rip the cover off the ball. Great weight and sole grind really make you feel like you're throwing darts instead of swinging a club.

When it came time to buy some new wedges I tried the x-forged, vokey, cg12, and cg14 wedges. The callaway were nice on the fairway but hard to use in rough and sand. The cg14 felt a little heavy and I hated the yellow insert. Overall I thought the vokey was the best club, but the cg12 was a very close 2nd and overall the best purchase. The cg12's have perfect balance, go through thick grass and sand effortlessly, and provide a good amount of backspin, best of all they just feel good to hit. I bought the 46, 52, and 58 all with standard loft. Would definately buy the same again.

Wedges are GREAT for less than a full swing. I played them for the first time yesterday and was consistently pitching it close with good spin.
One downfall though is that on full swings the grooves cut the cover of the ball. I normally play ProV1's, but I may have to find another ball soon. I noticed early in the round that I had a cut on my ball, I chocked it up to some abnomally. Then, I noticed this later in the round right after hit the 54* from 90 yards out. Another $5 ball that becomes a practice ball...

I find the CG12 DSG RTG+wedge an extremely playable wedge. It's well balanced and the feel is great. The ball's reaction off the face of the club is predictable. Confidence is almost a given.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Easy to Use, Good Value, Features
Cons: more choices on bounce

Tale of a Cleveland wedge critic.......
Date: April 1, 2009
I have never liked the way the Cleveland CG10 60 degree hit, so I returned it, and I was reluctant to give Cleveland another try......
This club from 80 yards in is the best wedge I have ever tried. It is easy to hit of he turf, puts amazing spin on the ball, and has great feel for chipping. I have tried this and the Vokey wedges, and I am sticking with Cleveland all the way!!!!

Nice Feel and Consistency
Date: November 1, 2008
I bought the 52 and 60 degree versions of this club and love both of them. They are weighted for great feel and consistent yardage. The 60 is great in the bunker and has the weight to really get under the ball in any trap lie. The softer balls really spin well with these clubs... I recommend highly.

Great Wedge
Date: August 4, 2008
I had the 588 DSG RTG+ wedges before I purchased these a couple of months ago. They are basically the same wedges except for the new groves. The new groves impart tons of spin on solid shots, especially from the rough or wet lies and on full swings. Very consistent feel and distance control as well. Absolutely love the RTG+ finish!
Only con is that they actually shave the dimples off the ball (I use Titleist NXT tour) due to the sharp groves. This gets a little annoying because I have to replace the ball much more than I would like.

WOW AWESOME!!!
Date: May 17, 2008
I love these clubs... I have the 60 and the 52 and they are just awesome... I played with a couple guys this past week and every hole if i used my wedge usually the 60... The people i was with were just amazed... They said " You really got that shot down don't you!" I sure do... you have so much control of the ball with these clubs and the best thing about them is the drop and stop action when you want... Another thing i like about them is there are two different way to position the club depending on the shop.... Nothing is better than these wedges....

The Right One
Date: February 11, 2008
I played the old DSG RTG for years but switched to the CG 12 for the added control and spin the new style grooves give the ball on full swings and even chips. I wished the new grooves came on the DSG RTG and my dream came true. The combination is perefect. The DSG RTG is the best wedge Cleveland ever made and the new deeper CG 12 style grooves make it even better. Cleveland is the king of wedges with the Vokey close behind. The sole of the Cleveland gives this wedge the nod. Im not a great golfer but my short game just got a lot better.
