Why look elswhere

Early last summer i decided to buy a new driver. I am in high school and had just about finished growing a full foot in one year so my first priority was getting clubs that fit me. the local driving range was having a demo day with all the manufacturers there and i just went up and down the stalls testing everything. I narrowed it down to this and the taylormade superquad. Both clubs are very handsome and they feel great. It was strange because on comparably good strikes, the cobra carried 15-25 yards further than the r7. I also noticed a more consistent ball flight with the cobra: always high yet penetrating, and a slight draw(the club is not a draw bias, that is my natural ball flight). The taylormade gave a little more traditional sounding thump than the cobra but i soon got over that. All my friends make fun of me for playing cobra, but when one of them hit it (currently plays a 905r) he outdrove his own shot by ten yards or so and was right down the middle (he stopped making fun of the cobra). the kicker is, at the same driving range about a month later, taylormade was doing a demo and they had a trackman set up(Kudos to trackman, best fitting system ever). Out of curiosity i went over to the stand and they had me hit a few with their standard superquad, ran some numbers through a computer and then built me a superquad with an exotic shaft and that gave me an ideal ball flight. I asked if i could hit a few on the trackman with my Cobra and it turns out that the "ideal" taylormade fit was being outdriven by about 2 and 1/2 yards by the cobra. I know that isn't much but the point is this is truly the best club around and it lives up to its name of being the King.

Quite a step up.....
Date: March 4, 2008
For the last 4 years or so I have been playing the 983K 8.5 degree. Since moving out of the South Bay I have gone from playing 100+ rounds a year in high school to only 3 or 4. Needless to say the golf bug rehit and I wanted to upgrade my sticks so why not start with the driver?
Two weeks ago I purchased the X Speed 9.5 with the Speeder in X-Stiff. I have only ever play Titleist drivers and this was the first driver that I have found that set up as appealing as the pear shaped Titleists i am used to.
I have probably gained around 5 yards overall (actually gains I am not 100% certain, I am launching the ball 50% higher with the Cobra and have only played on soggy fairways) but I am twice as straight off the tee and twice as consistant. I now vary from 280-300+ off the tee vs. 260-300 with my old Titleist.
All in all I am very surprised that this club has held up to the demands of my game. It may not be as workable as the 983k or 905 but my misses are in the rough, not behind a tree and knowing I can draw this club when I need to and the ball will go to the side of the the fairway i need it to is very reassuring.
Final verdict...though I don't like to admit that clubs are improving my game and not myself but within a month of getting back into golf and hitting the range twice a week I have gone from struggling to break 80 to shooting 72-74 and feeling I have left at least 4 strokes out on the course none of which had to do with this driver.
Thank you Cobra for producing a product that surpassed my expectations.

super long and straight

i recently purchased this driver, i have played the hibore, nike sumo, sumo 2, mizuno 600, and the titelist d1 and 2, this driver is longer and straighter than any of them if you add all that up and add this shaft that comes stock it is a deadly combination. my average with a hibore was the second longest with a average of about 295 after the roll. with a cobra speed pro x i am now carrying the ball over 300 and about 320 after the roll on average wow!!!. i am now going to go get the fairway woods and the 3 hybrid.
conclusion: out of all the drivers that i have played in the last year this one seems to have the best sound, feel, and playabily. not to mention that it is 30 yards longer on average. the best driver on the market hands down

Wow! Best driver out there...

Definately ordering one of these from Golfsmith this week.
This is the best driver I have ever hit. A friend purchased the 9.5 with a stiff flex shaft and we took turns bombing the ball with it last week on a local course.
The head is the best looking head I've seen. It's not closed like the Cobras in the past, so there's no fear of hitting it straight left or snapping one. The shaft is perfect for a mid to quick tempo and handles higher swing speeds without ballooning the ball. The sound and feel are explosive, right off the face you know the ball is crushed. It's forgiveness is uncanny as well. Looks = 10, Feel = 10, performance = 10.

Driver to keep for a long time
Date: July 10, 2007
Many drivers that came out this year was revolutionary. I.E: Nike Sumo2, FTi, FT-5, etc etc. Although I prefer traditional style heads it proves to show that square drivers are no gimmick; just look at KJ Choi in the ATT Nationals. As with al my reviews I will list pros and cons, and a conclusion.
The Reason Why i switched from Burner to Speed X pro: I didn't like the offset on the Burner for i have a draw ball flight.
Pros of the Speed X:
1. Sound is better than the F speed
2. Still has decent MOI
3. Fujikura Shaft is a bonus
4. I like the shallow face, deep face looks like a block
5.Feel is tremendous
6. Very long, and very workable.
7. D-4 Swingweight. Most people prefer D-2 or D-3. I must admit D-4 is heavier, but the pro to this is that you really let the club's momentum swing on your backswing, and then let the weight just swing through the bal. It has taught me to swing the club.(Sorta like what MOMENTUS GOLF TRAINER does)
8.Speed Tuning
Cons
1. Sound is better than the Speed ld f, but can use work
2. D-4 Swingweight might be little too heavy for some
Conclusion: This is a driver I will keep for a long time untill new drivers that meets and goes beyond what this driver does comes out.

What a DRIVER
Date: April 22, 2007
I recently had a chance to demo most manufacturers 2007 drivers and was overwhelmed by the results of the Cobra XS pro shallow face. I gained 35 yards (for an average 319) over my old driver and 17yards average over every other new driver on the market.
The Cobra is straight and real long. Now i can get home on the par 5's in 2 with a 7 iron instead of a 3 or 4.
Thank You Cobra

Took it long and far on a cold morning on a pre-release sale at my local country club. I have been hitting my current driver for three years now because I just have not seen the difference with other Driver over the past three years. Well I have a new driver coming. This ball jumps off the face hot. The driver gets the ball up. This is a great club.
