Because a stainless steel face is far and away the best material for the performance of a fairway wood, Nickent decided the best plan of action was to take their super thin .4 mm titanium crown and braze it with 17-4 stainless steel, a proven performer in fairway wood design. By replacing the crown with their super thin titanium technology, and because the titanium weighs 5 times less than a steel crown, Nickent was able to significantly raise the MOI (moment of inertia) and make the face have a larger sweet spot.
