PING i10 3-PW Iron Set with Steel Shaft

Ping i10 3-PW Iron Set with Steel Shafts The Ping i10 irons are designed to appeal to golfers who prefer the look of a smaller, blade-style club but still rely on the forgiveness of a cavity back. Its compact head features reduced offset and a thin top rail to give it a players' iron look. The rib structure of the Custom Tuning Port (CTP) stabilizes the face and improves feel and consistency. Weight savings from the new cavity and face structure is positioned on the low toe to provide a high MOI (moment of inertia) for its blade length. Its CG (center of gravity) location creates a low, penetrating ball flight. Features: Players-size head with reduced offset Low toe-weighting increases forgiveness Narrow, cambered sole for enhanced performance through turf Custom Tuning Port (CTP) technology improves feel and consistency Shorter blade length and top rail width provide players club appearance Ascending Weight Technology (AWT) shaft design

Simply stunning

I am a 12 handicap golfer who plays a couple of times per month. Until recently I was very much a TaylorMade guy through and through. My entire bag was made up of TM. Those of you who own their equipment know TM make a good product.
Anyway, I went down to my local golf store here in Brisbane, Australia to look at getting fitted for a new set of irons. I went in thinking that a new set of TM Burner irons was coming home with me, based on a couple of reviews I had read. I ended up trying the Callaway X22, TM Burner, Titleist AP1s, Cobras and the Ping G10s and i10s.
I had no intention of even trying the Pings, but thought there was no harm in giving them a go. The G10s felt a bit clunky but from the moment I held the i10, I knew it was the club for me. There's something about the thin top line that just exudes confidence when addressing the ball. I struck a couple and they felt amazing. I must say my swing was feeling very ordinary that night and none of them felt very good, except for the i10 and the AP1s weren't bad either.
A few days later I went and tried them again. Same feeling. I confirmed that these were the weapons for me. I got fitted for them and picked them up a bit over a week later.
I took them to the range today to try them out and all I can say is WOW!!!
I have never hit Ping irons before now and I'm really disappointed I haven't. They feel sensational when they come off the middle and mishits still end up ok.
I was a bit apprehensive about how forgiving they may be, given that they are targetted at better players, but I think for anyone who can hit a reasonable ball, give them a go. They are very forgiving. More often than not though, they end up looking mighty fine in flight.
Overall, a great club and a purchase I expect to be holding on to for quite some time. You don't have to be a scratch golfer to play with them, even though most reviews call them a "Players" iron.
Highly recommended

Sweet Irons

I was hitting a set of old Wilson irons that were a terrible fit for me for far too long due to financial constraints. Well, I had a buddy that had a set of Ping i3+s and a set of Titleist blades. Well I hit both of them once he moved on to the i10s and really enjoyed playing with the i3+s so I figured when I got new irons in December I'd get the i10s. Boy am I happy about my decision. At first I was gonna go with the G10s, but after playing the i3+s and consulting the owner of them whom gave me all the best advice about club fit/my game/club selection than anyone else, I decided the i10s would be a better long term purchase. Well, I got custom fit for them at my local golfsmtih, threw in some different shafts and grips of my liking and I am extremely happy with my purchase. Anyways, to anyone who is on the verge of being able to work the ball and wants to break through that barrier, I think these are the perfect irons. They have enough forgiveness and enough workability for that level of player. I thought I might be biting off more than I could chew, but the fit was just right. Hope this helps someone.

I never do these product reviews but I could not resist as I just had a 41 front/42 back at Moorepark Country Club on a windy day last week 11/17/08.
This was after I was shooting high 90s and embarrassing to say, low 100s back in October 08, and I have been playing for 20 years. I was so frustrated after a round of golf I went to Golfsmith to buy as I have been eying these I-10s and reading up on them for about a month.
I never used to try to be fancy and hit anything but straight, but now I have the awesome draw that I can control, and fade when I need to. I understand what it now means to be able to play the ball. It does give you the look of a players club, but with some of the same forgiveness as a your non bladed clubs.
I got the 3-PW, also got the UW, SW, and the LW, and I feel surgical with my wedges. I hit a 7 160yds, PW 130yds, LW 95 yds, definitely these clubs feel great as I had off the shelf Adams tight lies w/ steel shafts and graphite tips.
I got fitted by Golfsmith and the 1st time I tried my new 7 iron in the a store with the tape, I was dead on accurate with the blue dot. So when you buy these, definitely get fitted as it will improve your game.

excellent set up
Date: November 15, 2008
I'm a low handicapper with a driver swing speed of 108 - 111and a black dot fit. I'm not overly strong but generate good club head speed through efficientcy and connection.
I have the Ping AWT Stiff shft in these irons and it has made the world a different place. I've pretty much always had S300 shafts because that's what good irons have.
My previous set were Titleist 735's. I loved 'em but had real control issues due to the weight of the clubs.
The combo of the AWT and I10 head provide a very stable platform that my tempo can control.
When I worked out that the titleist were to heavy I got a set of S59's on the cheap with the JZ steel shafts. Good irons... but almost a little to light.... found my stock shot with these were a high draw
The sole and offset of the i10 combine well to make an easy to hit club with a very repeatable result. But perhaps lacks in workability.
I was not crazy about the offset intially but the consistency in my striking now means I'm less inclined to shape shots and try to avoid misses. Certainly has made life easier
I play In New Zealand so we see a lot of different course types and conditions... I've found the sole of the i10 gives me a more consistent strike than the s59's in the wet, but easily handles drier firmer links and spongey parkland courses
Well worth a look if you're a reasonable golfer with a medium sort of a tempo that is struggling for consistency through impact.
Final note.
The guys I play with tend to all have index's with a + at the start... They hate these irons. I think there is adequate feel... but if your looking for max workability and good control and it has to be a blade, have a look at the Mizuno MP 67 with the Nippon NS pro shafts. I've a friend with that set up and I was truely surprised how easy they were to hit

Excellent Clubs -
Date: September 29, 2008
I went in to Golfsmith to get fitted for some new clubs. I had been hitting Taylormade Rac OS2 for sometime so wanted to move up to a better and fitted clubs. So we tried a few different types of clubs and did the fitting and the best one I hit was with the Pings. I finally did a round with the Pings last weekend and it was on par. I hit better than I ever had hit before - my balls were consistently straight and on target. Thanks Golfsmith! I also tried the Titleist AP1, AP2, Callaway X-20, TM R7, R7 TP. Pings were by far the most comfortable one for me.

These irons have given the control I was looking for. I did the fitting myself and everything was on the money. The irons allow me to work the ball and I have not lost any distance from my previous Wilsons. The look and feel are great!!

If you have i5's trade up
Date: May 6, 2008
I just got back from the local golfsmith to see if it was worth trading in my i5's, for i10's. I also tried the Callaway x20 tour, xforged, Mizuno's, and Taylor Burner's XD. Just to see what the hype was about, I hit the other brands...
Now I know why Ping makes the best iron. The new i10's were 7 yards longer on avg, and more forgiving...worth the upgrade.
I am a 9 handicap, play a draw, hit a 7iron 150-160 range. hope this helps for anyone with i5's, or thinking to buy i10's.

Date: April 8, 2008
These are some of the best playing stix I've hit. I usually like a forged club but these feel just as good or better! They are definitely workable but still provide plenty of foegiveness. Would recommend these to most any player from 20 handicap to scratch!

Ping I10
Date: November 27, 2007
As an international buyer I was cautious of the process but not the product. In both cases just brilliant! Golfsmith are No.1 in my book and so are the Ping I10s. I got the clubs made up to my specs with the standard AWT shaft. I get about another 5-10m over my old Taylormades and even more than the Callaway X-Tours that I have been borrowing. Smooth hitting and good looking clubs.

These clubs almost seem unfair.
It took me some time to get used to the look. I went from Zing 2s to these. That’s like going from a hockey stick to a butter knife. I love the look though. It looks more like a blade.
First of all, you can’t evaluate these clubs hitting off a mat; you need to hit them off the grass. I take a divot when I hit and the first time I hit these off grass was incredible. The feeling at impact was like nothing I’ve ever felt before, much smoother than my Zings. And here’s the most impressive thing for me, even my miss-hits were straight towards the target.
Another thing I like is that the ball stops on a dime. Almost every shot I hit was within a foot of where it landed. Personally I like that better than trying to judge spin or run-out. As far as trajectory goes, I know PING says these have a lower trajectory, but I didn’t notice any difference over my other clubs.
As an experiment, I borrowed 6 irons of the Taylor Made R7 and the Callaway X20s to compare to the PING I 10. For me, there was no comparison. The R7s and the X20s looked big and clunky compared to the I10s and the bottom line is that I just flat out hit the PINGs much better and straighter.
As far as distance goes, they may be a few yards shorter than my Zings, but who cares when you can hit them straight. Plus, I’ll probably hit them longer as I get them more dialed in.
Bottom line: Great set of clubs! I couldn’t be happier. As satisfied as I am now, I think I’ll love them even more after I get about 10 more rounds under my belt.

Crisp and precise
Date: September 11, 2007
I haven't bought these irons yet, but I have hit them several times at the range and in the stores. WOW! I am a big fan of the I5 and was well on my way to purchasing them if my Nike Pro-Combos didn't shape up. Someone said that PING came out with the new I10's, so I thought I would try them out. I'm hooked!
The club looks like a blade, both from the stance position and on the bottom. They are very sleek and have a sense of confidence that many I-series irons have lacked in my view. They feel crisp and have a solid, smooth sound when the ball jumps off the face. These irons are full of pop, as opposed to my Nike Pro-Combos that are a good 10 yards shorter for each club.
Needless to say, these clubs are money. PING has got a great thing in this new line of irons. They will be in my bag next week after I get them fitted. Great club at a great price!
