Snake Eyes 675XC Forged Iron Head

Snake Eyes 675XC Forged Iron Head: These iron heads are ideal for middle handicap players (12-20) looking for a solid, clean design that offers the soft feel of a forged iron. Snake Eyes 675XC Forged Irons are the big brother to the 675C irons and provide the same high-quality performance with precision billet-forged from 1035 carbon steel. The XC irons have a soft feel but offer a higher level of forgiveness. The cavity of the 675XC is deeper than most forged irons are able to deliver, having gone through a six-step process. Golfers who want a clean set up and traditional profile yet don't always catch the ball on the center of the clubface will appreciate this model. As with the other 675 forged irons, each face is skim-milled for flatness and scorelines are machine milled to hit the pinnacle of consistency and performance. All 675 series irons feature 8-gram weight increments that allow for a progressive swingweight set. To learn more about MOI matching and why these clubheads featu

Forgiving and Soft, What a Combo
Date: October 24, 2009
I was really impressed with these club heads when I built a "demo" 5-iron for myself. I matched it with a TT Dynamic Gold SL S-flex (check out my review of the DG SL shafts, which are terrific). What is still a little surprising is that they feel soft, as you would expect from a forged club, but are also very forgiving on off-center hits. Perhaps even more interesting was how the head "talks to you" (and no my therapist says the voices are not real). When I make an off-center hit (kinda often with my 17 handicap) it still goes fairly straight with only a small loss in distance but I feel the hit. Its not really harsh but its clear to me where I mishit the ball. This feel was missing from my nice set of Cobra FPIIs. For a single digit golfer, they may be a little too large (try the 675C heads) and for a 20+ person, they may not be forgiving enough. But the setup is nice, a thin top line and plenty of weight on the bottom of the club head to get the ball airborne. I'm almost done building the rest of the set and want to get out and play them soon.

I bought the 7 iron (along with a Viper XT & Pythin XL) as demos. Out of the 3, this is the least forgiving, but still a wonderful club. Unless there's an awful mishit - and you will know it - the ball still flies fairly true. Has more workability than the other 2 clubs, but that was expected. I'm suggesting a mixed bag to customers, use these for the scoring irons (7- PW) and go with more forgiveness in the longer irons.

I have used Hogan, Wilson and other top line irons.
But these irons are simply the best I have ever used.
They are very forgiving on off center hits and are very workable.
Plus the fact that you can put the shafts and grips you want with the clubs and it gives you more confidence.

I have built a set of irons using 675C (P- 7) and 675 XC (6 - 4) forged cavity back heads. Built to a swing weight of C-9 and using True Temper shafts trimmed to a senior flex, I hit these irons well when I do my part. What I like most about these iron heads is that they are not too advanced for my ball striking abilities, but will allow me to continue use these clubs as my expertise increases to include shot shaping. To me its like purchasing multiple sets of clubs for the price of one set. The fact that I build these clubs to fit me not only reduces my cost, it improves my chances of hitting a quality shot.

Hard to fit no more
Date: June 23, 2009
I am 6'5" with a bad back and have been working with a club maker for years to deal with my limitations. The 675XC's give me all I need with no compromise. We were able to put them (3-P) on three inch longer shafts and then bend them upright 7degrees for a total of 13. Used reg shafts and we did not tip them because of 70 mph swing speeds. They are F8 swing weight because of the shaft length but very well balanced and give that sweet butter feeling even on slightly off centered hits and when I flush it there is no feeling at all.
I used the 675C 2 iron and the 675WC's to complete the set. I have lowered my scores by 8 shots from the confidence of not having to change my swing to use club heads that are not as adaptable.
I could not be happier with these club heads.

Excellent Cubhead
Date: June 14, 2009
I built a set of the 675xc's with UST Proforce V2 constant weight (variable flex) shafts. I built them trying to produce constant MOI clubs. The delivered numbers came in great. I had to tweek my 6 club just a bit to get it into my MOI target. I have been playing them for over a month as I write this. For me, the combination plays great. Most of all they have a tremendous feel across all the clubs. I had been playing clubs with 15 to 24 degree hybrids before these. As a result of the 675xc's hitting ease am building more long irons to add to this set. The clubs have great distance, are forgiving, seem to have a wide sweet spot, and I find I can work my shots with them. I called UST as I was assembling them and was surprised and pleased to hear that the UST rep in TX was playing a V2 shafted club himself. I highly recommend this club head and a MOI based approach to building clubs to anyone.
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use
Cons: they are forged and show wear but play great.

675 XC irons and wedges
Date: May 28, 2009
Just built these in 6 iron through PW, and in wedges a 52, 56 and 60. The shafts are True Temper SL.
They look great and set up very well. I find already that the feel on solid hits are like butter, and off-center hits are not punishing, and still dead straight. These clubs can be worked either left or right, low or high...but they seem more apt to just be straight, high and land as soft as a butterfly with sore feet.
They hold the green very well, and the distance is repeatable and easy to depend on. They are as fine a iron as any ever built by anyone. The sound is very crisp at contact...and the wedges I fell in love with first time out!! Wonderful sound and feel. Both forgiving and professional at the same time. They have handled every condition from sand to high rough...if I do my part they sure do theirs!! I have been out with them for 2 full rounds and have dropped 3 strokes...I'm a 10.6 handicap, so there is a glimmer of hope of getting to that single digit area...and if any clubs can get me there, these would be them...truly enjoyable.

I am a big Forged Iron fan. I laid my Titleist DCI 981 irons to rest and the 675XC speced out very similar to my old clubs.
They are a little longer and nice and straight. The ball flight is low to moderate and I love it. Thanks to my clubfitters imput I think these irons are a steal at the price.
I am back in the 70's again.
If you are a forged iron fan and love the traditional look these are for you.

Improves on the great 600XC. I think it's a bit nicer looking with a little thinner topline. Great soft forged feel with a lot of forgiveness. One of if not the most forgiving forged cavity backs around.

I have tried a lot of iron heads, but these are keepers. Was so impressed with them, that I built a set for each of my Sons. I put them together with the Snake Eyes Iron shaft / Sensicore. What a feeling. I may get a couple sets , just to keep around for the future.

Have set of 675XC's with reg Dynamic Gold Sensicore shafts, setup longer for my 6' height. Great setup, they go long and straight and easy to launch. Need to swing strongly for length with wedges as they really slide under the ball. Great clubs......first time use saw me play to my handicap of 14 after 4 week break.

Date: April 29, 2008
This clubhead rates 5 stars on good looks alone, nice part is, it plays as good as it looks. It's hard to beat the smooth clean lines of this head with it's no nonsense, sweet solid feel, plus plenty of forgiveness.
The Dynalite Gold has been my iron shaft of choice over the years, but I built these (5-PW) with the Dynalite Gold SL, as my "Medicare" swing speed isn't exactly getting any faster. (14.8 handicap, and getting better) This combo gives me the ball flight I like and distance is nice. I've always liked the 600XC, but think the 675XC is even better, and I really like the 1.5mm shorter blade length.
I usually like to build a set (or two) of irons for myself each year, but Golfsmith, you may have trouble getting these out of my bag very soon.

675XC excellent!!!
Date: April 27, 2008
I tried out some of the big name forged irons at my local golf shop, and decided to try my hand at building my own set. I ordered 4-PW and shafted them with GS75 from TT. ( I got the shafts at a huge discount because I think somebody made a mistake on pricing them). At first I had a hard time hitting these, but after a couple of rounds, things started to come together. I am able to shape my shots with ease and I seem to be getting an extra 30 yards or so of distance from these new sticks. These iron heads look awesome and the sound and feel when you hit the ball just right is quite satisfying. I have since ordered a 3 iron to complete the set. I am by no stretch a good golfer, but I wanted a forged iron with some forgiveness and these fit the bill!! An excellent choice for anyone.

These new heads are even better than the 600 series they replace. Incredible soft. Specs were right on. As forgiving as a forged club is going to be. Looks beautiful, esp. with the new thinner topline - a definite improvement. Paired with a new shaft like the DG or Black Gold, these are as good as it gets.
