Snake Eyes 685BX CR Forged Wedge Head

Snake Eyes 685BX Forged Wedge Head (Chrome): Advanced materials and manufacturing combine to create one of our best wedge designs ever. Fluid forged using a soft 8620 carbon steel, Snake Eyes 685BX wedge heads undergo an 800-ton force forging process, creating a softer feel and increased durability. The wedges have the USGA-maximum groove volume (9% greater than any previous Snake Eyes wedge), by way of expanded groove width. CNC face milling ensures perfect flatness across the face and increases friction between the club and ball. Finally, the tour-influenced sole grind relieves material in the heel and toe for excellent versatility in a variety of conditions.

These wedges spin the ball !!!
Date: September 27, 2009
These are without a doubt the best wedges I have ever played. I have tried all types from the less expensive to the high dollar "pro wedges". I promise you, that these wedges will put spin on the ball and have great feel doing so.

Great Wedge for the pirce
Date: September 9, 2009
I have the 58 deg box mill wedge and this wedge has great feel, great looks and the ball stops on a dime. These wedges can make you look like a tour player. The ball stops out of the rough and fairway. sometimes stops to fast you have to remember to get the ball to the hole. For the price better then any name wedge on the market.

Needed Extra Bounce
Date: August 4, 2009
The 56/14 wedge works great for me from the sand. It makes bunker shots almost effortless. The adjustment to the extra bounce on chips and pitch shots takes practice.

Make an Impression
Date: July 28, 2009
Like other reviewers, I wanted to try the box grooves, so I built up a 60/6 degree head first. The results were so dramatic in terms of feel and control that I made up a 52 and 56, as well as a 60/12 to use as an alternate sand wedge. I"m developing a reputation around our club as a great wedge player because of the spin I put on my sand shots, chips, and pitches. As this writing, I've had 4 friends have me make up wedges for them as well.

Lotsa bite
Date: July 12, 2009
I bought the 56 deg. and have been using it for a couple of months. I really like the club. I can really spin the ball. The only complaint is that anything more than a half shot will eat the ball cover. A full wedge shot will raise "hairs" a quarter inch high!

Best Wedges on the planet
Date: July 7, 2009
These wedges are the best I have ever played. Great feel. Can control spin and trajectory. I have played Cleveland, Mizuno and Titleist and these are much better. Also you can put these together at half the price. Do yourself a favor and get these in your bag.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Easy to Use, Good Value, great feel

Nice wedge heads, I ordered the 54 and 60 degree models. Nice spin on approach shot and cosmetically pleasing.
Only draw back was the size of the head. It is a little smaller than others.
Would recommend.

Really good wedges!
Date: June 22, 2009
These things spin the ball like you won't believe! The box grooves will actually tear the logo right off the ball. I've found that I can fly everything to the hole or past it and spin it back with ease. The feel is solid, no clanking like with a cheap club. I built 3 wedges with true temper shafts for not much more than the price of one brand name wedge. A great buy.

Butter
Date: April 1, 2009
Butter is the only way to describe the feel of these wedges. Built a 52 and 56 with Dynalite shafts and Tour Velvet grips and they came in at D-1 and D-6 respectively at 351/2 inches. Cannot attest to sand play yet, but from the fairway and the rough these clubs perform flawlessly for me. Throw the ball at the pin and they will stop on a dime whether a full shot or even a flop from around the green. Further bonus they do not tear up the ball cover.

Thanks for the Grooves
Date: March 6, 2009
All the sets I have made, save 1 all had a sand wedge, but when I put together a set of 675 XC irons I needed something to get me out of the sand ( rather be in the water). I built a 56 degree 600 W for the sand and overall not a bad club. When the 685 BX hit the store I decided to give it a shot with the deeper grooves and wa la I can now get out of the dreaded pits with a better shot to the green. A freind is hitting the 60 degree lob and sure does enjoy what the grooves are doing for him.

Box Groove Wedge
Date: March 3, 2009
I have used Snake Eyes Wedges for several years, and I was a little reluctant at first to try this one. I wanted to try the box grooves but the sole on these seemed to wide for me,.
I am happy to say, these wedges are good,
I have the 56 and 60 with Rifle Spinner 5.5 shafts.

Excellent Wedge Head
Date: February 23, 2009
The 56* 14 is an excellent head. The square grooves make the ball check-up nicely. It is very easy to adjust the loft and lie as well. Installed it on a TT SL shaft at 35 1/4 and it came in at a D6, just right for a sand wedge.

Good Replacement for 600W
Date: February 17, 2009
I have used the SE 600W wedge for several years and the grooves are pretty worn. I went to the Golfsmith website to purchase another 600W head, but they don't make it any longer. A recent (Mar 09) Golf Magazine article by Dave Pelz recommended the "box" grooves over the U or V grooves. I decided to buy this 685BX because it had box grooves. I placed it on the graphite wedge flex SE-80 shaft from my old 600W and it seems to be a good replacement for it. I was concerned about the higher bounce (14 rather than 12), but I haven't noticed anything really different. I have been using this for a couple of weeks, so I hope it continues doing the job. But, if I interpret USGA Rules correctly, you have to purchase this prior to 2010 to be legal.
Pros: Easy to Use, Features, box grooves
Cons: i'd rather have 12* bounce
