The Carpenter Custom 455 high-strength steel face is over 30% thinner (2.4mm) and 50% stronger than 17-4 steel used in many popular irons. An upgrade from the previous model, the addition of up to 54 grams of tungsten in a sole weight lowers the center of gravity, increasing launch and solid feel. In addition, a deep undercut cavity, coupled with the special 'eyes' weight pad behind the face, pulls the center of gravity low and deep. This positions the true center of gavity behind the face, further raising the forgiveness.
