Snake Eyes Viper TI Tour Black Driver Head

Snake Eyes Viper TI Tour Black Driver Head: Designed with the highest pro-quality standards in mind, the Viper Tour family delivers the technology and looks that better players prefer. Rich aesthetics, adjustable weights and innovative shaping make it a high-prestige choice for the mid-to-low handicapper. The Snake Eyes Viper TI Tour Black Driver Head has a plasma-welded 6-4 titanium clubface plate that ensures maximum power by eliminating the heavier weld bead left by traditional welding. This enlarges the sweet spot on the face, allowing for a more elastic transfer of energy on off-center strikes. Three-weight technology (3WT) gives players the ability to customize ball flight. The clubhead comes standard with twin 2-gram weights in the heel and toe skirt areas, with a single, heavier 6-gram middle rear port for neutral flight. A black physical vapor deposition (PVD) finish provides a super rich appearance. Download Viper Ti Tour Black Driver Clubhead Specs (223 KB)

bought the CCA version of the Viper tour 11 deg loft for less than 50 bucks !!
Have tried various shafts and settled on the aldila DVS 55g. This combo added about 10-15 yards to my drives. overall a great product.

I have used a number of snake eye drivers and presently have 2 Mambas, 2 of the black Ti Tours one in an Aldila NVS shaft and the other with 3 interchangeable shafts, they have all worked very well. I have enjoyed changing shafts and particularly like the Grafalloy ProLite shaft.

Viper line is still very solid
Date: August 24, 2009
I've played the Viper Ti-4, Ti-460, and now the viper tour (missed the 464). They have all been and still are very consistent clubheads. I started this season with my Ti-460 with a prolaunch blue and was hitting the ball too high so was on the lookout for something lower. Got a Viper tour at 9* and put a prolaunch red in it. I consistently carry 260 or more. I've hit over 300 with roll and wind. The finish is very durable so far (half season). When my swing is off, this doesn't fix my errant shots, but it is consistant in ball flight (if i'm cutting-it cuts, if i'm straight-its straight). The ball flight is a little bit higher than I expected, especially with this shaft, but that also has to do with my swing. It's easily 20-40yds longer than my Ti-460, but most of that has to do with carry and rollout.

Had to make another one
Date: July 10, 2009
I got a call from my nephew telling that someone had broken into his garage and stole his golf clubs so he needed to start over. I made this driver for him and really like it. He golfed with a friend of his and let him use it and now I have to make another one. I guess that is about the best selling point there is.

I have the 11* and 12.5* versions. The 11* is certainly better than the Ti460, and 464 predecessors but no equal to the Ti-4. the 12.5* seems to have a mind of its own; the loft and weight placement don't work well together.

Great Workable Driver
Date: May 18, 2009
I've been playing this custom built driver for six months and it's great.
Work-abilty - check
Solid feel - check
Appealing look - check
I had the 9 degree driver built one inch over standard length (snake eyes proforce xt shaft 46 inch) and counter weighted to help out the feel and I've never hit more accurate. It's probably more of my swing getting better then the driver, however having a great feeling and solid sounding driver doesnt hurt. I launch high with low spin, which equals far drives off the tee box.
Great Driver head equals great driver it's staying in my bag for a long time.

This driver has been our number one built driver all year. It has worked well for the high or low handicapper and that makes it a great driver since we are able to use it for a lot of different type players. An excellent driver.

Very solid feel when hitting the golf ball. Ball flight is optimal and the roll is very adiquate. I would definitely recommend to anyone. I played in a senior tournament this last weekend and on every hole was averaging 50 yards farther than the other 3 in my foursome. One was older than me and 2 were younger than me.

Great Club
Date: June 11, 2008
I have been using Golfsmith products now for over 15 years building my own clubs and it has been fabulous. I have had every $400 driver by the major makers and flat gave them up after I started playing snake eyes clubs--and my buddies hate me for it. I was playing the 653D with a Grafalloy NT 85 shaft and that was the best driver I have ever owned--period!!!! Distance, accuracy and workability. Routine drives over 300 with one GPS marked at 346. Now I am trying this Viper club head with an Aldila NV 85. Great feeling and sounding club. I just won long drive with it out of a field of 144 golfers. I'm telling you that you can't go wrong with the combinations Golfsmith can offer of clubheads and shafts. I have to admit, it broke my heart when they stopped making the 653D--I really wanted one as a replacement in the future. Oh by the way--I gave up my Mizuno Irons after I built a set of Snake Eyes 675XC with Rifle flighted shafts--what a pure feeling club!!!!!

Best driver ever!!!
Date: May 31, 2008
This club is a gift from the golf gods! I fit the 9 degree head to a ProLaunch Blue 65X and the results are amazing. I find I have an incredable sense of confidence standing at address. I can work the ball either way I want even with the weighting left as neutral. The sound and feel at impact are the best I've ever experienced. I passed on an R7 Quad that I could have had for $75 to build this club after hitting the demo at the local Golfsmith. It will be very hard for the R&D team to top this club. Can't wait to build the 14 degree 3 wood.

Goes too high
Date: May 11, 2008
Built with a grafalloy pro launch red X flex PURED shaft trimmed to 44.5" in a 10 degree head. Went with the 10 degree because with my slight fade was afraid of the 9 with the 1 degree open face making my fade worse. As far as the shaft goes I've got it in my three wood and absolutely love it! I moved the 6 gram weight to the heel to help with my fade. Took it to the range and it is very straight and about 20 yards shorter than my 600T with NV X flex, but think thats because of how high it goes! Hit it a lot on a launch monitor averaged about 16 degree launch angle with about 3000 rpm way too high for my swing speed 105 to 110 and not even close to the claimed 12.1 degree of the specs. Played a round and everyone of my drives that hit the fairway (only missed one like i said this thing is STRAIGHT) was within 2 ft of the ball mark, friends drives were taking those big 25 yard bounces. Still looking for a driver!

Needs Alignment Aid
Date: May 10, 2008
I put this head on a Snake Eyes Proforce XT R shaft and have really taken a liking to the end product, with one caveat: the glossy black head and satin black face are a combination that makes it harder than it should be to get a square set-up on the tee. I solved this problem by painting a muted burgundy red stripe along the leading edge. This color stands out enough to make the set -up very positive while not distracting from the overall look of the club.
Even tho I am a senior golfer and the standard recommendation for my ilk is a high loft for better carry I chose the 9 degree loft because I normally hit a high ball anyway. Also it can get windy around my area and a high ball can get me in more trouble. I don't have any trouble getting the 9 degree loft in the air and I do get 15-20 yards more than my old driver. I also find the feedback to be very pronounced. I can really feel it when I hit toward the toe but have found that unless I am "really off" there is no loss of distance.
Overall this is a very forgiving club and I highly recommend it, even thou it really could use a more visible leading edge.
