Snake Eyes Viper XTI Driver Head

Snake Eyes Viper XTi Driver Head: Customize ball flight with Snake Eyes Viper XT adjustable weighting technology. This driver head has a drafted stepped sole design and features a single weight that shifts weight low and rearward - the one-two punch for optimal launch and more distance. Just install heavier screws to increase launch angle without increasing spin rate. The Viper XTi Driver features a unique DOC (Dynamically Optimized CT) face technology that provides consistently fast ball speeds across its entire impact area. The Characteristic Time (CT) measurements of the face remain constant across its entire hitting surface as a result of its unique ribbing pattern. The clubhead's deep-CG bullet shape and contoured crown give it a higher moment of inertia than traditionally shaped drivers.

A dream come true
Date: September 6, 2009
I put this head on a Adila NVS 55 shaft. My current handicap is 12 and my swing speed was 78-79 clocked by a club fitting center.. I am 66 years old and with my old driver I was lucky to hit a 200 yard drive. With this head and the NVS 55 shaft I have gained at least 25 to 35 yards. My longest drive Sunday was 255 and all drives averager 226 yards. which includer the heel its that went about 215. I know it is hard to believe but it is a fact. The game has become fun again. Thanks Golfsmith you are the best.

Very Good Driver!!
Date: August 5, 2009
Great looks, good sound, large head with excellent workability. I have not changed/played with the weighting as I am happy with my ball trajectory. Combined the 10.5 degree head with a Graphite Design YS-6 stiff shaft and have been hitting drives down the middle for 2 months now. Great purchase!! Was hitting a Proforce 65 and an older Golfsmith driver head 11 degree of which I faded everything. Not so with this new driver combination.

I put a regular Aldila MOI Proto shaft on the HL club head. I am 61 years old and a 14 handicap. My handicap is dropping because I hit it farther and straighter than last year. I really like the club and have had most drives above 250 yards with the best so far being 310.

Bought the 10.5* Viper XT to replace a 4-5 year old design from another manufacturer. Distance on center hits is about the same, but on off-center hits the Viper is fantastic. There is much less loss of distance as contact moves around the face, which is does quite often for me! :)
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, forgiving on off center contact

Get the Lofts Correct!
Date: May 19, 2009
Great head but quality control is lacking. To obtain an 11.5* I had to order a 10.5*. The lofts tend to be very weak. If you order this head, and it is a good one, make sure that you pay the $2.00 "hand pick" fee. Also, if the club is not available at Austin, don't accept delivery from retail because they won't hand pick.
Pros: rearward weight screw

Best Driver I have ever had.
Date: May 12, 2009
I am often frustrated by the lack of left handed equipment offered by Golfsmith. Also, since the drivers offered to lefties are usually 10.5 degrees or higher in loft, I find myself hitting too high of a trajectory for my taste.
I put this 10.5 degree head on a Pured Aldila NV 65 Wood Stiff shaft (231320), and wow! This is the best driver I have ever owned!
I could not be more pleased.
Now, if Golfsmith will make the Snake Eyes Viper XT Iron Heads available to us lefties, I would be content... at least for a while.

Date: March 16, 2009
Very, very good head. Nice look at address and easier to work than expected. Built it with a snake eyes pro launch blue and it is a very good combination. Put a 6 gram weight in it and the launch is exactly what i was looking for. This driver is longer than any I've hit in a long time.

Has got to be one of the Best heads , available as a component. I have used over 5 of Golfsmiths heads over the last 3-4 years and this one really meets the challenge.
Very Solid, Long, Quiet. Good things.. I have the Snakes Eyes Graffolly Stiff shaft in it at 45.5".
I play about 120 times a year, and average dirves of about 275.

New life for a Senior
Date: February 3, 2009
Built a driver for a senior freind of mine using the high launch head and a "A" flex Pro Force XTD shaft cut 1 inch shorter than standard. The Old Timer says that he is now hitting back over 200 yards, which for the past few years his average drive was below 190. Needless to say he is a very happy golfer.

Golfsmith's Best Driver for 09
Date: January 18, 2009
This is Golfsmith's best driver for 2009. It is very long, forgiving, has a great sound and feel, is very good looking and the details are first rate. I have never driven the ball so straight. I also like the weight screw for adjusting the swingweight and launch angle. It also sets up very square at address.
I built this driver with a SST PURED Pro Launch Platinum shaft and I went with the 10.5* head. The length is 45" and the swingweight is D-4 (8 gram weight installed in the adjustable weight port). It launches the ball a little lower than my 11.5* Python XL (same shaft) and I am about 10 yards longer when comparing the two. The numbers are just better for me with this driver. I would highly recommend this driver to anyone looking for a new driver for 2009.

Very Long and Forgiving
Date: January 14, 2009
I combined the 9.5 degree head with a House of Forged Patriot stiff shaft trimmed to 44.5 inches. This combination is very, very long and extremely forgiving. Even with such a low center of gravity, you can work the ball left or right. With my swing, I had to tee the ball a little lower because it wanted to balloon on me. All in all you won't be disappointed with this head.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Easy to Use, Features
Cons: need it in 8.5 degree

Nailed this one.....
Date: November 18, 2008
I have reviewed several clubs etc in the past. I want to start out by saying that I like to use a product several times before I tend to leave a review. I understand most folks review right after they have a good round and usually after the first use. Not such a case here. I purchased this head recently to replace two drivers. A brand new 675T and my old standby 653D. I could not get the 675T setup right and sprayed the ball everywhere. Found it extremely hard to use. The 653D is fantastic, but they aren't making this one anymore so I will continue to keep it as a backup, and that is where it was, back in the bag to replace the 675T that just wouldn't cooperate with me. I read the specs on this head and decided to give it a go. I shafted this with a Fujikuri VistaPro 70, regular flex, 44". I actually need the stiff flex but chose to try the regular instead. Glad I did.....WOW!!! This combination is working for me. I have gotten use to it now and I must say it is a joy to swing smooth and watch the ball fly. Easy to control, easy to work the ball left or right and to keep it in the fairway. I have the right launch angle for my swingspeed (105mph). Now, I will say it gets a bit loose at times but that can be solved by throddling back some or by changing the shaft to a stiff flex. I have played this club now SEVERAL rounds and find it to be a super performing unit and the value on the mark. I am very happy with the head, the workmanship is super, the quality impeccable, and only time will be the factor for durability. Now as for the Viper Blue/Black headcover.....come on guys, you should sell a crowbar with it to get it on and off. In conclusion....This head is a super deal, and will work with just about anyone's swingspeed provided the right shaft combination is in play. I love it so far and it really had to be special for me to replace my 653D. Get yourself one!!! You won't be sorry.

This head is a winner
Date: November 15, 2008
I put a 14 degree head on an Aldila NV 55 shaft for a senior that has a 75 MPH swing speed. He reported excellent distance and he hit every fairway but one, when he decided to experiment. This head is a sleeper that will catch on quick.
