Chip too far ?
Date: August 13, 2009
This is a beautiful high quality head. I put it together with a Rifle wedge shaft and a GolfPride DD2 grip. It makes a very solid club. It gets the ball out of the rough near the green very well. My only concern is that I have trouble hitting this type of club without hitting the ball too far.

Stroke saver

I was having problems being consistant with the chip or pitch shot with any regular club in my bag. With the python putting wedge and using the putting swing, I have become much better with both direction and distance control . Its amazing how 1 club can shave 4-5 strokes off a round.Try it ,with a short learning curve you will love it!!

I personally find this club a strokesaver. I have made this club in a putter length with a putter grip for two friends that I golf with and they use a "trap" setup from 30 yards off the green and closer now on a regular basis. They are both shaving strokes and have added approximately 4 "up and downs" per game.
The beauty of this club is that unlike using a 7 iron that can easily close down and result in an errant shot, the clubface remains steady and true through the stroke. The consistancy and accuracy with this clubhead is exceptional. I would highly recommend it to any golfer who chips and runs. The shot is accurate, it checks up well and then releases to the hole. On the other hand, it will bite you if you are too loose and free with your hands.

To Putt or Chip is the Question
Date: November 2, 2008
I decided to purchase this to see if there was a magic bullet to chipping....I found out quickly there really is no shortcut to practice. Although this club looks very nice and it appears that it should work first time everytime I found it was extremely hard to use and to get used to. It is way to upright for me to be able to use at any distance and I have yet to be able to get level of confidence with it. There is no head cover for it not that it should but it would have been nice. I give it an A for looks and a D- for use. Sorry but I think one should stick with a chip shot with an iron of your choice.....

Great little touch club
Date: October 28, 2008
I built this last weekend and played 18 holes the next day. I used it several times around the edges of the green where I used to use my 7 iron. Great feel and MUCH BETTER and consistant results! Love this little gem. Saw the Odyssey at the store and got a little sticker shock. I used the Snake-eyes stepless steel putter shaft and an Odyssey white hot putter grip (because I like the feel) and cut it slighly longer than my putter

Nice addition to the bag
Date: September 21, 2008
When the Odyssey chipper came out, I gave it a try at the local Golfsmith. Nice piece of equipment and accurate. But, I was skeptical about paying $120 for a club I might not use much. When I saw this head, my mouth watered. Well, I bought one, paired it w/a DG S300 and hard-stepped it to between wedge and putter flex. Took it to the local Golfsmith last night and we (salespeople and me) tested it last night against the Odyssey. It is definitely heavier and doesn't have the soft feel of the insert Odyssey uses, but with the face-milling, each of us were satisfied that the clubs equally had the same spin rate and launch angle. The Odyssey felt softer, but the Python's feedback was a little better.
This morning, I went to my course and played around with it on the chipping green. In no time, I was dialed in on distance, and this baby is deadly accurate. No problems on any lies as of yet. I even popped a few out of a bunker. here's a new sand weapon I hadn't thought of, and the ball comes out like a chip rather than a lob. I putted a few with the ball next to the collar. Much easier than trying an iron, I found I could use my regular putting stroke, and glide through the turf easily making contact near the equator every time. I can't wait to try this out on that dormant Bermuda this Winter when I travel south. It works great (so far) on this Northern Bent grass.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Easy to Use, Good Value, Features, nice weight, fine milling
Cons: had to use a rife putter headcover

SNAKE EYES Python Putting Wedge Head
Date: September 9, 2008
Interesting little piece of equipment. Very handy for approach shots where you can't use a putter and you question whether a wedge is the best way to go. This gives you a little loft but not a lot. Like with any club, it takes a little getting used to in order to judge distance but once you work with it a while, you get the hang of it.

Useful club highly recommended
Date: August 21, 2008
I ordered this club as a component and built it myself. Which for me was the most fun. I have used it quite a bit since I completed the build and have already chipped in from about 15 yards out to save par. How to use it does take some time in that you can swing it like a putter in up close situations or you can swing it full like a seven iron for a little more distance. I highly recommend this club but I didn't use the components suggested and went for the closeout specials for the shaft and grip. I cut mine down to 35".
Pros: Quality, Good Value, Features, 36* face angle (7 iron)
Cons: takes a little time to learn how to use it

1 That works
Date: August 11, 2008
I enjoy trying new things and this is no exception, but what a surprise I got. The worst part of my game is getting up and down. With this club the getting up part is much easier now. It takes some getting use too, but is a sweet club and I am glad it is in my bag. I put a True Temper Gold w/ Sensicore shaft cut to pitching wedge length and a Lampkin Crossline Tour grip because this is what I use in my irons The combination works for me.
If you are the type that uses a bump and run now and then around the greens, then I STRONGLY suggest you try this club.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Easy to Use, Good Value, Features
Cons: no head cover available they say to use a hybrid

Worth the money
Date: July 14, 2008
I matched this head with a True Temper Black shaft cut to pitching wedge length and a Winn X17 grip.
I played in a 3 day tournament this past weekend and also played 3 practice rounds. I wanted to make sure I had used this enough to give a valid review.
The head feels heavy and lines up well. The face is milled and seems to bite the ball on descending blows. Making chips and bump and runs has never been easier. I chipped in for eagle on a par 5 from about 15 yards. I also chipped in for a birdie on another hole from about 10 yards off the green. More importantly were the number of times that I managed to knock it within gimme range to save par. The other twosomes that were grouped with us were begging me to sell them the club before the days were over.
No club is perfect and useable from every lie. However, this club was well worth the money and is easily one of my favorite clubs.
Pros: Easy to Use

FUN, FUN, FUN
Date: June 26, 2008
I built the club this morning with the T2C shaft, same as in my putter. Built it 1" longer than my putter and 1" shorter than my 7 iron. Stopped by the course to see how it worked around the green and was very impressed. While heavy the club just glides through even the heaviest local rough. Distance control comes very quickly. Did get a couple of jumpers be that happens with any club. Overall this was very consistent and predictable. Pops the ball out straight, doesn't seem to open up like a regular club when it gets down into the rough.
Now for the fun, went over to the driving range and just started walking balls out. With about a 3/4 swing I was hitting balls 145 (same as my seven iron) but straight as an arrow every time). Can easily see using this inside of about 100 yards when you have a run up as the ball does stay low and has a lot of roll.
Where doesn't it work -- in areas where you need loft to get the ball up. On a steep downhill lie the ball jumps out almost horizontally. While the face grabs a ball and puts spin on it even from the rough if you hit it very far it is going to come in flat and run. You just have to allow for that. For example, would not be a good club for a tucked pin just over a sand trap. Those should all be expected. You also would use a 7 iron in these cases.
Bottom line, based upon my experiences this one is going in my bag and have to order another one for my customer. OOPS, the order was delayed :>)
