Snake Eyes Quick Strike Q4 Approach Head

Snake Eyes Quick Strike Q4 Approach Head: The fourth generation of this multi-purpose club employs a versatile design excellent for chipping, pitching, full shots from 130-155 yards out, and even recovery shots from fairway bunkers. The 2008 Quick Strike Q4 Approach Head features a smaller, more compact footprint that allows more finesse, especially from the rough. Assembly notes: This club uses .370"-tip shafts for easy matching to the rest of an iron set. Recommended lengths for maximum ball control are 37" for steel shafts and 37.5" for graphite.

Great feel, but may want to re-think shaft length
Date: September 14, 2009
I just recently constructed a 39 degree with True Temper Lite XL shaft and Winn Excel RF grip. The feel is exactly the same as my Ping G10 32 deg hybrid (and I love the latter). I made the shaft length 38 inches based on running a swingweight calculator program. The calculated swingweight (given that the head is 249 g and using a Winn Excel RF 42 g grip) was D0 with either a True Temper Dynamic Gold or TT Lite XL. When I put it together, it weighed in at D2 (a point of interest is a True Temper Lite XL adds 2 swingweight points vs Dynamic Gold because less weight is on the butt end of the shaft).
The recommended shaft length of 37", a standard 52 gram grip, and a Dynamic Gold shaft calculates to a C3 swingweight. With the 35 deg club, it calculates to B9 with the same shaft length.
My personal recommendation would be to build the 39 degree club with a 38 inch length for men and 37 for women and do the tip trip same as a six iron.

34 Degree Gem
Date: June 30, 2009
Purchased this on a wim, built it and put it in my bag. Shot into a bunker about 130 from hole and used my 34 degree to hit it right at the pin about ten yards long. WOW what a feeling. Great around the green for chips instead of my 7 iron. Well worth the investment, would suggest to anyone who could use a little help.
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Good Value

Why use a wedge?
Date: February 28, 2009
For years I used lofted clubs (9 through L wedge) to chip from around the green. I've had my share of skulls and fat shots. I started using approach heads for this about 3 years ago, and just switched to this 39 degree model. My wedges now stay in the bag, and the increase in the number of 1-putts has gone up accordingly. I don't understand why everybody doesn't use these clubs around the green. A skull or a fat shot is almost impossible. All you need to worry about is too short or too long. You can use it like a putter if you are on the frog hair.
Pros: Easy to Use, easy to get close
