TAYLORMADE 2008 r7 CGB Max 3-PW Iron Set with Steel Shaft

TaylorMade r7 CGB Max 3-PW Iron Set with Steel Shafts: Golfers Seeking the very best iron performance will get it in the r7 CGB Max iron; the longest and easiest to hit model in the TaylorMade line thanks to its thin, fast face and super-sized design. The r7 CGB Max iron features a large, high strength steel clubface that's thin, flexible and fast. This clubface has a high COR (coefficient of restitution) for faster ball speed and extreme distance. The extra large clubhead also features tungsten weights for ultra-high MOI (moment of inertia) making it an extremly forgiving and easy to hit iron. The Clubface also incorporates TaylorMade's Inverted Cone technology which is a proven driver technology that expands the high COR zone for higher ball speed on mis-hits and more distance from shot to shot . The club's center of gravity back (CGB) makes it super easy to launch the ball high and long for increased carry and distance and it's SuperFast Techonology with a lightweight gr

Great clubs
Date: May 7, 2009
I have always had difficulty getting the ball into the air. This is not a problem with these clubs. These clubs do hit longer than normal clubs, so getting used to the new distances takes a little work. So far, I cannot complain.
Pros: Quality, Good Value

Extremely forgiving
Date: April 2, 2009
The cgb max irons are by far the most forgiving irons on the market. You just cant miss with these clubs. My handicap dropped 10 points in one season. The guys in my weekend group have all switched due to my sucess. Taylormade really hit one out of the park with these irons.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Easy to Use

Excellent irons to improve your game!
Date: April 1, 2009
I have played 6 rounds with my new Taylormade r7 cgb max irons. The first thing I noticed is extra length. I'm hitting them between 1 and 2 clubs longer than my Taylormade rac OS irons. I have found after several rounds that throttling back to hit them about 1 club longer provides the best accuracy. You can actually work the ball left or right but not like you can a players iron. I have the black steel shafts and everyone thinks they are graphite! Once I show them they are steel, they really like the look. If I had to buy all over again, I would definitely pick these irons again. I have a 2 handicap.

So Much Longer
Date: February 1, 2009
I had an earlier model of the CGB and was never really satisfied, but with the Max model and the new black steel shaft I have added almost a full club to my iron play with no loss of forgiveness. The face of this club is simply hotter than anything I have tried.
Interestingly even though it is a maximum game improvement iron you can definitely move the ball in both directions.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Easy to Use, very long
Cons: pricey

The best
Date: August 2, 2008
Absolutely the best irons I have ever used. Definately longer and straighter. At address they just add confidence in your shot. My buddies laughed at the price, but now they are looking at buying a set. I have the TP Burner 08 driver and 3 wood, and just orderd the Burner rescue. I definately have a complete golf set and game now. A+++

The best there is
Date: June 12, 2008
I bought these irons as soon as they were released early this winter, and I have about 20 rounds in with them so far. They are amazing. #1- they look fantastic, I dont know of any irons that look better, and they are bullt to keep the shine. #2- they are long-long-long. I gained about 10-15 yards compared to my Callaway x18's. #3- when you hit them pretty square, you know it because of "the click". They make a great sound and you know its gonna be good.
For comparison purposes if you are considering these, I am a 10 handicapper, 6'2 190lbs, 105mph swing speed and these are my average CARRY distances with these-
4- 205
5- 195
6- 182 my 2nd favorite club
7- 170
8- 158
9- 145
PW- 132 my favorite club
AW- 118
SW- 105
LW- varies
Yes they are a bit pricey, but I absolutely love them and they will be in my bag for a while. They are very forgiving, very straight, and you will hit them very high.
Good luck, you will watch your scores drop several strokes for sure. Just get your swing grooved in to hear that "click", thats the secret to knowing you are making great contact with these..

Outstanding forgiveness
Date: May 11, 2008
Today was very windy, 20 MPH with gusts. I just had to try my new r7 CGB so I left my driver at home and went to the nearest course. I usually hit a fade and with wind conditions like today, a slice. First tee, 3 iron, 270 straight down the middle. I had four wind assist 3 irons over 260 yards. One 225 dead into the wind and again, straight as an arrow. I've never hit so many straight shots in one round. I beat my best ever on this course and did it without using any woods. I did pull one shot left, not the clubs fault and was laying behind a tree. I used a 4 iron to pull off a push draw and ran it up on the green. That is something I've never been able to do before. Taylormade has sold me on the performance of the r7 CGB. Excellant forgiveness for miss hits, still straight but shorter.

Forgiving and Long
Date: December 22, 2007
These irons are the longest irons ever! I borrowed them from a friend and wow! I could hit it on the toe and it will still go dead straight while losing only 3-4 yards. I hit my 6 iron about 150 and 155 with these. I would recommend these irons to a person who shoots high 80's - 100's (high handicapers). The only downside applys to the low handicappers. It's very hard to keep the ball low and work it left or right! Forgiving and long irons.
