I picked up the game again a couple of years ago after a long hiatus, and after building a set of irons for middle to high handicappers, I had a set of clubs for the first time in my life that felt right. Feeling righter than right, though, were my XPC Seven fairway woods: #3 and #5. I was astonished at how easy they were to hit, how long I hit them, and how straight my shots were.
I had never before been a decent fairway woods player, but now I relish the opportunity to hit those things. I just flat kill with those things -- so much so, in fact, that I had the crazy idea to use a pitching wedge off the tees and hit approach shots with my stainless steel XPC fairway woods.
Last week a partner and I teed off on a medium length par 4 that I have always had trouble lining up, so this time I eschewed the driver and hit my 5 wood while my partner hit his driver. I outdrove him by 30 yards, and I wasn't trying to "kill" the ball, either.
The XPC fairway woods are a good investment: inexpensive, quality construction, solid, and easy to hit.
